In 2001, I acquired an Ibanez J-Custom S3040PL off eBay from a guy named Steve Kerns, if I remember correctly. He was a pretty avid guitar collector, but I haven't talked to him since. Anyway, I bought this guitar from him (with a hardshell case) and it was in wonderful condition. Since I'm not a collector, it's been played for, likely, hundreds of hours. Nevertheless, I'd still give it an 8 (or 8.5, but I'm biased) out of 10 in terms of its condition. Here are some of the specs:

• Made in 1997 in the Japanese Custom Shop
• Mohogany body
• Pearl color-changing paint (it has a red sheen to it in certain light)
• Ebony fretboard
• Continuous inlay around the entire guitar
• Supposedly, between 12 and 25 ever made of this guitar
• Front pickup: DiMarzio Air Norton
• Middle pickup: DiMarzio Blue Velvet
• Rear pickup: DiMarzio Tone Zone
• Lo Pro Edge bridge
• Pearl gold-plated hardware
• Gotoh strap locks

Steve Vai played this guitar when I was working for him and he offered to pay cash on the spot for it. It plays and sounds beautiful!

I really want to trade this guitar for a nice 7-string with a fixed bridge. I'm sick of floating tremolos. Unfortunately, I don't have the J-Custom hardshell case, but I do have an Ibanez hardshell case to go with the guitar.
