Image Gallery: All That Remains Live in Tempe
Last night, my friends Jacob, Merin, and I went to an All That Remains concert at The Clubhouse in Tempe. It was a great show.
Two bands opened for All That Remains: Light This City and Misery Signals. Light This City was pretty interesting, but mainly because they had a fairly attractive woman as their screaming vocalist. I was wearing cotton in my ears since The Clubhouse isn't a very big venue and I knew it would be pretty loud. All I could hear while Light This City was playing was low rumbles, the overhead drum mics, and the vocals. Misery Signals were, obviously, a very talented band with interesting songs, but they were generally too long and the singer "sang" one note most of the time. Very monotonous. Nevertheless, I liked them enough to purchase their newest album, Mirrors. I'm listening to it right now, actually, and the monotonous vocals are very much there on the record thus far.
All That Remains, the headliner for the tour, played very, very well and they are VERY talented musicians. The guitars and drums were awesome. Seriously. After seeing them live, I know I'm going to have to start listening to more of their music. They're still touring and I would recommend you go see them if you can tolerate a night of loud guitars and screaming. :) Not that those are bad things, but I just want to warn you in case you see them.
Anyway, thanks to Jacob for letting me know about this band. He actually had a guitar lesson with the lead guitar player, Oli Herbert, before the show and got a backstage pass. He and I ended up staying backstage after the show and got the photos of him with the band members. They're all really nice, down-to-earth guys... until you take a photo of one of them... then they turn into metalheads that make awesome faces and poses.
